Each day is a new link in a chain that stretches back before I can remember and out into unforeseen potential.

Today is a day to celebrate the days that have gone before, and to anticipate the days that are coming. I was not always certain that today would actually arrive, that I would get this far. Now it seems like I have barely started.

This is my 500th post on the StrategicMonk blog.

There have been book reviews, interviews, shared guest posts, and lists. Quite a few posts about leadership, work, depth, and focus, along with revelry, craft brewing, and liturgical seasons. More questions than answers. Some posts have made me laugh, some have made me cry, some have shown me the frustration of injustice. Who can imagine what the next 500 posts will bring?

Some posts have been a joy to write, almost writing themselves. Some were born out of struggle and hard work, finished early in the morning just before they were posted.

When I began this blog, I most enjoyed having written something, completing a task. Each post has taught me a valuable lesson. Each post has helped me see that, yes, I might actually be able to do this.

Each post is a balance of contemplation and action. My writing is partly the satisfaction that comes from sitting at my keyboard searching for the word or phrase I really want. It is also partly the deep breaths and rolling gait of taking walks to reflect, consider, and let things come together.

I enjoy writing, and appreciate the friends I have already met through these posts. Thank you for reading even one word of what I have written so far.

I can hardly wait to start my next post.

What could the next 500 posts bring to life?
