We dream of having and enjoying it all.

We want lives filled with deep meaning, rewarding experiences, and lots of fun. We want life with the works, life with everything.

No one aspires to live a plain, dull, boring life. We want lives we can savor, with extra flavor and plenty of spices.

We want to taste all that life has to offer.

We dream of lives like a hot dog with the works; mustard, relish, onion, pickle, chili, cheese. Make me one with everything. We want a life like an ice cream sundae with whipped cream, syrup, a cookie, more than one flavor, sparklers. Yes, please.

How do we get a life with the works? We cannot walk up to someone with a cart on the street and buy one.

The first step toward living a life with the works is recognizing what we really want. Like ordering a hot dog or a sundae, we begin by making a decision. If you do not know where you want to go, you will probably end up somewhere else. It is helpful for us to see the sundae, or hot dog, or life we desire as clearly as possible.

There may be condiments you do not really like. You may have a refined palate, easily overpowered by too many flavors. The “works’ may be overwhelming for you. You do not really want that.

When I make something, whether a meal to eat or a life to live, planning and anticipation are extremely important. I want to include exactly the right ingredients prepared as well as I can.

Knowing yourself and organizing your thoughts are essential ingredients in living a life with the works.

How do you decide what you really want?

What are the ingredients you include in a life with the works?
