People are amazing. People are dazzling in their variety, their potential, their ability to surprise. Each person has their own unique perspective on their experience. Each tells their story their own way.

It is impossible to understand a person based on how they look. We need to listen to the stories locked inside each of them to appreciate them. Believing in them is the key that unlocks the wonders hidden in each person.

There are people who have never felt that anyone has believed in them. Not knowing that anyone believes in them is a painful tragedy that keeps their stories locked away. They are not convinced their stories are worth telling, or worth knowing. They are not willing to discover their own true selves. They are not able to share their stories with the people around them. They have never met a leader who inspires them.

The leaders who inspire me believe in me. They may see untapped potential in me before I see it in myself. They recognize the passion in me that is unstoppable. They appreciate the deep truths hidden in me. Their belief can be a key to unlock the story I have to tell.

Believing in people is an essential element of leadership. It makes leadership possible.

Belief in people is powerful. We believe in people because we believe in ourselves. We become acquainted with the best in ourselves, share our best with other people, and bring out the best in them.

Many people feel surrounded by voices that do not appear to believe in them. We can become leaders who listen to their stories, who see their potential. We can be leaders who inspire them.

Who believes in you?

How can your leadership’s believing in someone make a difference today?
