Walking Toward the Light

Walking Toward the Light October 27, 2016

I am hearing quite a bit about how this has been a hard year. It is only the end of October, and people are eager for this year to be over.

This year has felt, at times, like we are headed down a long, dark tunnel. We have experienced a long, difficult campaign which began before the year did. Many of us have confronted challenges and obstacles which threatened to stop us. Some of us have had years filled with pain and anguish, frustrations and setbacks.

This has been a hard year.

Some of us have been able to keep going only by believing next year will be different. We are surviving this year because we hope things will get better.

We are convinced there is a light at the end of this tunnel, and we can reach it.

This has already been a long, busy year, and there are still two more months to go.

Those of us who face hard choices are not certain we will make it. It may be more than we can do to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

There are times when it all seems to be too much work, too difficult for us. We feel we are not making any progress, no matter how hard we try.

When we feel like quitting, like there is no hope, we need to take deep breath. We are so tired we become discouraged, and we need to rest.

When we feel overwhelmed, it is helpful to pause and remember how far we have come. We reflect on the coming days and see our path forward.

Where do we see the light of hope ahead?

How are we preparing for what we will do next year, next week, tomorrow?
